Children of Gaia (COG):

COG: Concept Art

This illustration gallery from Children of Gaia (COG) focus on character and world design for the ongoing fantasy-epic by Oneshi Press. In Rendaraia, where nature, magic, and civilization have long coexisted, strangers of unknown origin have begun to invade. As war rages between the Terran interlopers and Rendaraian natives, the hundreds of unique cultures are now subjected to devastation as their planet is ravaged by an imperial society that has its own rapacious needs back in its own politically divided home. But there is more at work than battles fought over land rights or culture: Rendaraia and its invaders are linked more deeply than any of them realize. Children of Gaia is the story of thousands, told through the eyes of those living through the most turbulent years of a collision of worlds. As some fight to preserve their way of life, others strive to create new traditions, some vie for power, and many battle just to stay alive.

COG: Great Nations

The five Great Nations of Rendaraia have stood for centuries as strongholds of culture, magic, science, and military strength. When, one by one, the Nations mysteriously fall—each destroyed in a day, with no time for word or warning—the intrepid scholar Jan’Ka’Zian sets out to record a complex network of intertwined cultures on the edge of destruction. Jayel Draco’s gorgeous illustrations present a vivid picture of elaborate cityscapes and mountain vistas, vast skyfaring fleets, and fantastic flora and fauna.Children of Gaia: The Great Nations of Rendaraia a compendium of illustration coupled with text which defines the setting, plot and lore of COG, now available

COG: War & Horses

Deep in the dustbowl of the newly formed People’s Republic of Draven, an overthrown aristocracy coexists with the country’s new government in an uneasy peace that’s often broken by conflict. In the midst of the upheaval, famine and drought wrack the once-fertile breadbasket—and violence is a spark to dry grass. In the midst of the chaos walks a shadowy figure: the Triggerman. The only sure thing about him is that he leaves a trail of chaos in his wake. Following that trail is novelist and journalist Landon Ford, documenting the Triggerman’s exploits and digging for the truth of his identity. War and Horses is Ford’s work: a series of dime-store novels, popular in Rendaraia and Terra alike. But the Triggerman is very real—and his true purpose may become the story of Ford’s life.Children of Gaia: War & Horses. Old-timey, weird-western, wood-cut-looking logo banner for this book rich with illustration by Jayel Draco, and Christopher Covelli

COG: Photobashing

The above gallery shows photomanipulation work by Jayel. These digital composites focus on character and world design for the ongoing work-in-progress “Children of Gaia” a fantasy epic by Oneshi Press. Almost all of these are created from photos that he’s taken himself, including backgrounds comprised of many various photos taken during his travels. He even created the costumes the models are wearing. In some cases, even the plants and mushrooms composited into the backgrounds he grew himself.
